Kings Of Leon Albums

Kings of Leon has five studio albums under its belt. From debut album, Youth And Young Manhood, to their most recent offering, Come Around Sundown in 2010, the band’s records mark their musical growth with their increasing success.

Youth And Young Manhood

Youth And Young Manhood was released in 2003 as the band’s premier record, with youngest member Jared only sixteen years old at this point. The album laid the foundations for the band’s future success but could not be said to be notable in itself, receiving no awards and producing no chart topping hits.

Nonetheless, the band knew to pursue their musical pursuits for their warm reception in the UK, and follow up album, Aha Shake Heartbreak again brought them another step up the musical ladder. Released in 2004 in the UK, the album slowly broadened the band’s audience and had tracks featured in mainstream films such as Disturbia and Cloverfield.

Because of the Times and Only By the Night

Having gotten the ball rolling with their earlier releases, the band began to gain momentum with their third studio album, Because of the Times in 2007. At this point, Kings Of Leon were evolving in their work, from a rougher earlier sound, to a more commercial, cleaner sound, which began to gain them recognition.

The band were also loved by the press, with NME claiming the band one of the greatest of the decade, and their music as moving and epic. The band were loved for never settling into a particular formula, rather experimenting and constantly learning, so that its musical style could never be said to have grown stale.

Hit singles from the album included ‘Charmer’ and ‘My Party’, and paved the way for their following album to reach even greater success.

In 2008 the band’s fourth, and most successful album, Only by the Night, was released. The album went to number one immediately in the UK and spawned two of the band’s greatest hits, ‘Sex on Fire’ and ‘Use Somebody’.

This was the turning point for the Kings of Leon’s career, with the two singles rocketing the album to the UK’s third best selling of 2008. ‘Sex on Fire’ went on to win the band a Grammy Award in 2009, a prestigious marker of their hard work and talent. Not only this, but the band won a spate of awards following this successful single, such as the Best International Band award, and Best International Album award at the Brit Awards in 2009. Such widespread recognition showed that the Kings Of Leon were now loved across the globe. People always wait for announcement of their tour dates so that as soon as Possible they can buy Kings OF Leon tickets.

Since achieving such success, the band are often invited to play concerts and festivals, headlining well known festivals such as Glastonbury, Reading & Leeds, Oxegen, Lollapalooza and T in the Park. Such success has meant that it was already guaranteed that their most recent album, Come Around Sundown, would sell incredibly well.
